The tough and frank attitude that Cardi B posses from birth I guess initially got her attention, especially via social media, she was quite open and bold about her life as a stripper.

Cardi B or the real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar was born on the 11th of October in the year 1992, in Washington Heights, Manhattan.
His father was Carlos Almanzar, was a Dominican and mother Clara Almanzar, Trinidadian. She spent her early life in the Highbridge neighborhood of the South Bronx.
She spent most of her childhood time in her paternal grandmother’s home located at Washington Heights, she gives credit to her paternal grandmother’s area in Washington for giving her ‘such a thick accent” which is kind of her trademark now.
Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar set her stage name as “Cardi B” derived from a rum brand Bacardi. Bacardi was by the way formerly her nickname.

The bartenders claimed that Cardi B was violent and claimed that she threw bottles and alcohol at them, although Cardi denied her involvement in this accusation. Later Cardi B was charged with two lesser criminal act (misdemeanors): assault and reckless endangerment.
Controversies
In Septmeber 2018, controvery between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj sparked when Cardi threw one of her high heel shoes at Nicki Minaj in attempt to physically attack her at a New York Fashion Week after party.
She claimed that the other female rapper Nicki Minaj had liked social media comments that were against Cardi B and that spoke negatively of Cardi and her ability to care for her newborn daughter.
Though Nicki Minaj completely denied of the allegations Cardi put on her and accused Cardi instead of cyberbullying in a heated Instagram exchange from 2014.
In 2019, Cardi B was on the cover of spring fashion issue of Harper’s BAzaar, which featured Cardi B in a Cinderella costume themed photo shoot, she wore a red gown and left a shoe behind, many fans inteerpreted this as a reference to the incident between Cardi and Nicki Minaj earlier.
Cardi B once used a racial slur “chinky” in one of her Instagram (obviously deleted later), she was referring to her daughter’s eyes when she used this slur “chinky”.
